The rhythm section is thoroughly strong, giving the band freedom to travel as far into the bleeps and bloops as it pleases, which is many miles. [No. 100, p.57]

With this album, the Octopus Project sound as jubilant and ecstatic as peers like Deerhoof or Dirty Projectors and channel the same optimism and weird charm as the Flaming Lips, while pushing their own unique sound into warmer, more accessible places than expected.

The Octopus Project pushed farther than they ever had on their last record, and in a sense, Fever Forms is a step closer to their comfort zone. That said, the comfort zone for a band like this is a weird, wonderful place.

The Octopus Project seem dedicated to staying catchy and strange in equal measure, and Fever Forms actively shows off both of those qualities.
