Out of all the artists currently aping/paying homage to/trying to replicate the sound of the 80's, this guy does it best without sounding gimmicky. Really not a single bad song on the entire album but "At My Heels" "Slow" and "When We're Dancing" are especially excellent. Definitely one of the top albums of the year and one that you can see having staying power.

The debut album for George Lewis Jr. "Forget" was produced by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear. Jr hooks you in with the second track When Were Dancing which transports you to an 80's night club in downtown somewhere. The album has very floaty melodies that make you think of them long after you've finished the album. Fans of Grizzly Bear can feel the influence on some of the later tracks that feel more spacey and experimental. This isn't ground breaking music, but its an honest attempt to do it right. I'd give this album 7/10.
Key tracks to listen to; When Were Dancing, At My Heels, Castles In The Snow.

Cracking good record for a debut. As you'll have read - it's got a bit of an 80's vibe going on - lots of synths. Twin Shadow is really good at making his songs atmospheric and giving them a kind of "feel". There is a predominantly dark feel to the record, like some of Depeche Modes better stuff but a bit more indie and a lot more chilled out. The dreamy grandeur of this album is difficult to pin down as every listen seems to render the album in a different light, but it's appeal is likely easily found by both fans of nostalgic music and those seeking a collection of songs which could all easily qualify as singles.

Twin Shadow manages to stand out in a cluttered genre thanks to world-beating, danceable hooks and a surfeit of style.

Co-produced in the US by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, Twin Shadow is assured hipster status in his adopted New York home. [Jan 2011, p.142]

Unlike the many psychedelic loop-crazy Panda Bears popping up these days, Twin Shadow skilfully crafts structured songs that stand out and are full of soul and mournfulness.
