Some of the tracks are dead ringers for math rock, but in Bishop and Chasny's hands that ornate form attains gut-level thrust. [Sep 2012, p.64]

Each time they break free of their own locked groove, achieving mood-elevating uplift via genius structural shifts, or wig-flippin' solos spiritually comparable with Hendrix or Neil young. [Jan 2013, p.98]

Together they achieve a level of fervent interplay that's exhilarating to hear. [Nov 2012, p.81]

Formerly Extinct is a little over-cooked, and the album would have benefitted from being left a little more raw at its core.

  1. A unique, and powerful album. Great guitar interplay and some ridiculous drumming. A few songs drag a bit, but overall a very enjoyable and good album. Expand
