dennysApr 8, 200410if "can't get you out of my head" was the bootyshakin' delight of 2002,"take me out" is the bootyshakin' delight of 2004. accept no subsituites, these badass scots did something that robbie williams has yet to do-conquer america.

ChelJan 4, 200510Absolutely fantastic album. One of those which you can't stop listening to and you wouldn't want to anyway. Best track for me would have to be take me out- its great how they change the song at the beginning and whenever I hear that thumping beat, I always wanna get up and sing and dance!!! (but maybe thats just me...) Highly recommended!!!

-
maccaJun 4, 20086Go listen to 'Antics' instead.

PetEMar 10, 20040WOW! It's the post-grunge recreation of the Talking Heads. Let me go kill David Byrne so he can roll in his grave.

-
-
CameronHMar 4, 20049The first great record of 2004. Captures the spirit of the mid-90's Britpop scene without sounding dated or derivative. Believe the hype.

-
-
DanMMay 6, 20049Solid indie rock fare. You know why it sounds like the strokes? Because thats what indie sounds like and Franz Ferdinand do it as well as any of their american counterparts
-
-
chineseboyJun 30, 20045WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY overhyped mediocre album that drags on and on with angst filled lust songs that make you sick

NseEJul 6, 200410Fantastic, the very best rock album of 2004! 'Take me out' is simply awesome with it's change in tempo from twangy rock to stomping beats.

-
sonofetr2112Sep 6, 200410This i think is an awesome album. just when i thought creativity and invention had left the music scene, here comes franz ferdinand as a shiny new beacon of light. i pity the guy abouve who gave this album a 2. He obviously can't see a great thing, even when it SLAPS him in the face, like this album.

TimB.Mar 10, 20040Why is it that all these no name bands get great reviews. All these indie/art rock bands are nothing and will never be remembered for anything.

-
-
ConfessorMar 20, 20040This is where indie rock goes to die. The NME has once again made us love an entirely miserable band. This disc sounds like entire sections of 80s underground bands being watered down so some ugly Brit boys can gather groupies. It's music that allows indie kids to listen to trash without losing their "cred"
-
-
VanZMar 24, 20040this cd is total bullshit, another overhyped release. its just business not music
-
-
JonathanPMar 8, 200410As infectious a CD as I've heard in quite some time -- certainly not to be missed.
-
-
KiranHApr 10, 20049Fabulous, and undoubtedly the best CD of 2004 to date. I hate to sink to all the people voting 0 and baiting, but if they'd just take 5 seconds, put the hype aside, and listen, they'd discover everyone's this excited for a reason.

CalBApr 30, 20048An intelligent, glam aura-fest. America won't get it ("dance with me Michael" will scare of the average US male) but then again they aren't supposed to. The colour and life that Eno and Ferry introduced to a dreary UK in the early 70s (Roxy Music), the FF boys are doing in the nervy noughts. Buy this album, drink a bottle of Bulgarian red, listen and go out dancing!

-
-
MikeMMar 11, 20049Look buddy, just because YOU have never heard of a band doesn't mean they suck. I suggest you actually take a listen for yourself... its really good stuff. "Take me out" is one of the best songs Ive heard all year.
-
-
FranzFerdinandMar 10, 200410Tim B. and Pet E are ignorant morons. If you hadn't noticed, the rap-rock sucks and so does all the other crap on the radio today. How egotistical can someone be that they think "If I haven't heard of it, its terrible". Superb album.
-
-
darrenwMar 10, 200410what a great first album, thank god for "Take me out" pushing "Hey ya" outta my head @_@
-
-
BrianL.Mar 12, 200410While it's not a perfect album, it is one of the most enticing, interesting albums to come out from anyone in quite some time. Few debuts sound this good.
-
-
CurranFMar 13, 200410Franz Ferdinand defy the laws of pop! Key changes, extreme tempo changes within the first minute of songs, lack of distinguishable choruses and complex and bizzare lyrics. Amazing!
-
-
TrevorMar 13, 20048This album has some AMAZING songs you'll find yourself listening to on repeat (Take Me Out, Auf Asche). However some songs don't nearly take off as well as others ... still, excellent debut.
-
-
RameezAMar 13, 200410Amazing. What the Strokes should want to be (still love the Strokes, but still, they should aspire towards this kind of stuff).
-
-
PabloNerudaMar 13, 20049It's actually very good if you like this kind of music. Naysayers will ALWAYS be naysayers. Despite what some may say it really is a quality release.
-
-
NicholasCMar 15, 20047Good album but not fantastic, just because the Brits think they're good, doesnt mean everyone else has to! Lets think for ourselves people.
-
-
juanvMar 15, 20045
-
-
MichaelKMar 15, 20049Often bands that are this hyped are disappointing. This album is anything but.
-
-
AndrewR.Mar 18, 20049Amazing album. I'd call their music a cross between The Strokes and Interpol with a young Scott Walker on vocals.
-
-
eliasiMar 20, 20048i had pretty high expectations when i got this CD so i'm sure they hampered the overall effect of my first listen but i still thought it was good, just not great.
-
-
ShintoIMar 24, 20048"Take Me Out" makes you dance. If it doesn't, please spend less time at funerals. "Take Me Out" alone is worth buying the whole record - a debut record that has a few great songs, and a few mediocre songs. They have enough pizzazz and energetic party fever to make this a worthy cd for any party rock and dance lover... don't buy this cd if you expect anything else.
-
-
abidrMar 25, 20049bery,very good songwriting, playing. Not a dud on the album,so tightly played, and with so much charisma.
-
-
JonnyLApr 20, 20049Yummy! Catchy as all Hell, but refreshingly deep (to a point) at the same time. Good God, 'Take Me Out'... causing limbs to shake... uncontrollably. Seriously though, it seems that alot of curmudgeons out there freak out when ever a band is (suppossedly) over-hyped. Relax guys, and give this a good listen. It's great stuff.
-
-
hehehehehehechangApr 29, 200410It is absolutely bloody brilliant the music is fresh and new! i think the album is the best and well eworth your the money!
-
-
TabathaHApr 5, 200410Some of the best music I've heard since The Smiths in their prime. Just like you would put them (and Morrissey) in a seperate category of greatness this band is quite sure to fit in that catergory of greatness.
-
-
JonathanHApr 7, 200410A wonderful Fun Band
-
-
TadMApr 7, 20042I was so exited about it and now that I've bought it, listened to it once and finding myself quite unimpressed and bored, I have no desire to given it any further time. I am so sick of hearing about them now that I have been so disappointed.
-
-

AthenaKJun 19, 200410Guilt-free dance music by a band that actually plays instruments.
-
-
JennyZJun 19, 20048I love this album! I only bought it today and I listened to it three times already. Take Me Out, The Dark of the Matinee and Auf Asche are the best songs.

-
-
ChrisPJul 27, 20049I wouldn't say that it's a perfect 10, but buying this CD put me in a really good mood. Rock music you can strut/swagger to. I'd say The Strokes comparison ends at the vocal production on the single... but if I _had_ to, I'd call Franz Ferdinand a funked-up, surfed-up Strokes.
-
-
rocketman70Jul 29, 200410Still the best album I've heard in 2004. Terrific debut.
-
-
SinYourPantsJul 30, 20045I give them credit for being interesting. If they made just instrumentals and saved me from the lame lyrics, this would be a lovable album.
-
-
SuseBJul 6, 200410i agree with Ben Bunny- not as good as the strokes- then again who is? this album is very catchy. must have a listen

monserratSep 11, 200410this album is Superfantastische! the songs are great and Come on Home and 40 ft are amazing. Most of the album is up beat and great to dance to. It's a pop album and not indie, I would say. Dark of the Matinee really blows my mind! Totally worth buying it at $20 when no one picked up the cd. The beauty of pop/rock/ ART!
-
-
faiziSep 25, 200410The best album so far and the music were totally amazing and groovy that makes me groove to each of their song.Totaly worth it.
-
-
LiliRSep 26, 200410I can't stop listening to this cd! I wake up to it every morning. They said they wanted to make music that would make girls dance... well they did it!
-
-
TomSSep 29, 200410these guys are awesome and if anyone says differently then they should go and eat up their D12 albums.
-
-
Frantic and rhythmic Scotpop with many echoes of so-'90s Blur in the sardonic jabs at middle-class bromides.
-
80It won't usher in a bold new era where boys are boys and bands play guitars, but there is more than enough here to chew over and enjoy.
-
90The most musically rich, catchy, smartly written "new new wave" record since Interpol's Turn on the Bright Lights.
