  • Summary: French band Fugu mines the pop sounds of the Beach Boys and the Beatles, a la contemporaries Stereolab (who contribute to this album) and Apples In Stereo.

  1. Fugu might not be the most original band here but, aesthetically, they are extremely pleasing.... An enjoyable pop album.
  2. Grand and flirting at the same time with the ridiculous -- the kind of disc to listen to when you are in love.

    Consistently entertaining. [#215, p.69]
  4. Alternative Press
    70
Should please sophisticated pop connoisseurs. [Nov 2001, p.85]
  5. Although its quality and creativity never falter, as Fugu 1 goes on it becomes a little redundant.
  6. Mojo
    70
    Alluringly odd. [Mar 2002, p.112]
  7. A fairly nice little slab of French Anglo-pop, and pleasant reading accompaniment if you can reach the skip button from where you're sitting.

Occasionally brilliant, often excellent, occasionally grating.
