Urban's sixth American release is a lean collection of country-rockers and bedroom ballads.

Country star Keith Urban's sixth release gives lie to the idea that angst is the best fuel for songwriting. On this lean but enjoyable eight-song set, Urban and his fellow songwriters are mostly in high spirits.

The sugared tunes would be easy to dismiss except for the credible guitar riffs, foot-tapping rhythms and fiery passion with which Keith sings. Thankfully, it's not all sunshine.

Get Closer plays out as vintage Urban. Considering how long it's been since he really hit his marks this well, that makes the album a welcome return to form.

Urban radiates psyched-ness - about his awesome marriage or the gathering power of crossover country - on summer jams and magnolia-scented ballads.

Strong album with many good and strong tracks. The only problem is the length of the album if you have the standard edition, needs more.
