  1. This is an organic, homegrown creation that sounds as though it's had a lot of time and love invested in it; lend an inquisitive ear and find yourself instantly besotted.

Ultimately, Viva Voce get away with incorporating (and occasionally copping) such disparate influences because around each hairpin turn runs the unique voice and vision of the artists. [#22, p.98]
  3. Viva Voce have always been musically intriguing and continue their winning streak with a diverse suite of songs that come together as a cohesive whole.
  4. It is Anita’s voice and fretwork that elevate the record. [#15]
  5. Get Yr Blood Sucked Out is confident, psychedelic, hard-hitting, and the best noise they've made yet.
  6. 80
Injects [Viva Voce's] cosmic American visiion with a creeping paranoia and, in places, a much heavier rockist edge. [Sep 2006, p.106]
  7. This is stoner rock for the indie set, so every suggestion of Led Zeppelin or Queen gets filtered through a Sonic Youth or Yo La Tengo aesthetic, which helps keep the bombast and pagan iconography at bay.
  8. This is how an imaginary Paul McCartney-Heather Mills album might have sounded.
  9. Something so organic it should almost be unrepeatable. [Sep 2006, p.77]
  10. It feels way huger than the work of two people, with dense, textured songs that sound like a remarkable collision between two distinct personalities.
  11. The Robinsons remain a fascinating couple on Get Yr Blood Sucked Out, burning through more inspiration and ideas in one album than any band has a right to.
  12. 70
An album that, by turns, is lacerating and seductive. [Sep 2006, p.106]
  13. While never quite as fiendish as its title suggests, it's certainly sinister. [Sep 2006, p.112]
  14. By the end of the album, you're likely to forget that the band band has been tagged as stoner rock, because there's a lot more than that going on here.
  15. In turns, it's searingly honest and brutal... with interludes where everything turns fluffy. [19 Aug 2006, p.35]
  16. Unfortunately, the last third of the disc stumbles badly with a clutch of well-produced but verging on laughably bad tracks.
  17. The members of Viva Voce accomplish a catchy cohesiveness that's at its best when they allow their songs to stray.
