The Wallflowers don't abandon their identity as rock & roll classicists, they just now feel the freedom to mess around, and they've come up with one of their loosest, liveliest records that not-so-coincidentally is one of their best.

Looser in feel and texture than their last couple of discs, with Dylan's husky vocals leading the way. [Dec 2012, p.78]

For the first time in their long career, the Wallflowers sound like a band that might actually be glad all over.

Glad All Over largely succeeds because it never devolves into simply getting the old band back together.
  5. 75
Dylan spends too much time on Glad All Over treading safe waters.
  6. 70
Dylan's talent for matching, smart plentiful (arguably too much so) words to chiming melodies supported by a solid, unpretentious rock band and sung with conviction has returned.
  7. The Wallflowers have always been a band that excelled at bringing new life to things we'd heard before, and that remains true on Glad All Over.
