On this third album the four-piece are now an accomplished if spiky group at home whether playing rough-edged guitars or glockenspiels. [Aug 2012, p.100]

Go Outside is less messy than one might have expected from Hot Panda, but that hardly means they've gone slick; now they have the chops to make the most of the pop instincts they've always had.

Hot Panda have produced a terrific album, one which combines intellectual and lyrical heft with a sure ear for a catchy riff. [Sep 2012, p.79]

Go Outside is definitely an enthralling and sufficiently unique record... It's a nice mixture of elements and styles that any fan of punk or quirky pop will surely enjoy.

For the most part the newfound earnestness is balanced by quirky arrangements and Chris Connelly's unpolished yelp reminiscent of Destroyer's Dan Bejar.

    A coherent yet varied album.

There's nothing quite crazy enough, however, to be truly exciting and the slower numbers offer little in the way of texture or atmosphere.
