Confident and complex, it's a standout debut from one of the most promising artists of the last few years.
  2. Sep 4, 2014
The Tim Anderson-produced Someone New and Under the Table sink into nondescript ballad territory, but otherwise Goddess is an accomplished debut.

Goddess weaves a captivating spell that many are certain to fall under. [Oct 2014, p.87]
  4. Aug 29, 2014
Banks is an earnest singer with an ear for complex anthems--she's at her best when letting big emotions rip. [Oct 2014, p.67]

If there’s anything missing from Goddess, it’s something that could set Banks apart from the lanscape of beats + vocals that’s so saturated today.
  6. 70
Out in a naturalistic realm, supported by the music rather than encased by it, Banks sounds more ordinary. She’s at her best facing down a sterile, indifferent universe.
  7. Sep 9, 2014
Banks could certainly go places--but Goddess doesn't, and instead seems content to wallow in the same depressive rut for an exhausting 59 minutes.

Amazing. Very beautiful, I love her voice and the music fits her voice really well. Only reason i wouldn't give the album a 10 is because it was very long, some songs were forgettable. Still a great album. Expand

Every single song on the 18 track deluxe version is meticulously crafted, featuring Banks haunting and powerful vocals, and most have a very sincere emotional tone and atmosphere. Goddamn, this is one of the surprise albums of the year for me--she has completely exceeded my expectations on this debut LP. Expand

While I was listening this album, I felt like the drama and the love was in a perfect harmony. Banks used the Experimental beats to do an amazing work, with musics great and that really look like a Goddess. Expand

In the beginning of this album, Banks sounds for me a little bit like FKA Twigs, but in the course of the album she shows that she has a big and artistic personality. With Dark and Angelic voice, instrumentals very sewn, I think she doesn't have a good tactic with the lyrics, but in the general I wouldn't change nothing. Expand

Banks' debut album Goddess offers some great brooding singles included on her previously released EP's; the real question is if those singles truly warrant a full LP because the rest of the "album" feels a little filler.
