GKMC is better than TPAB in my opinion. GKMC is a album that you’ll be able to listen to better than TPAB, TPAB is kinda difficult to listen to with some songs.

This album gets a play through at least once a week. Kendrick is off on his own with the amount of storytelling and deeper meanings in his music. He’s a true genius.

Album of the whole generation. A perfect mix of pop and underground sound united by a story of one boy. I guess everybody can relate at least to 4-5 tracks and find something similar in his/her life.
For those who don`t listen to rap it can be a bridge to the genre.
Maybe its not an album you want to listen constantly, but album which is always in your mind for sure.

By far my favorite Kendrick album, he mastered his sound and created a cohesive masterpiece that defines and expands on what hip-hop has meant to him. The cohesiveness of this album cannot be understated, and the whole production, lyrical message, and especially the skits create such a clear image and journey through the listener's mind. There are few things I could say about this album that hasn't been said before. GKMC can be overlooked now because of the critical acclaim that TPAB and DAMN have gotten, but listening to this album gives you a different feeling than either of those do. This is what the roots and origins of hip-hop should and do feel like in the 2010s. There are very few songs that ever get skipped by me on this album.
Favorite Track: The Art of Peer Pressure / Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst

K Dot's Best Album For Sure. The Storytelling Is Perfect In This Album. Every track on this album is amazing, but my favourite tracks probably would be The Art Of Peer Pressure, good kid, and Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst

This would be the magnum opus for 98% of active rappers, but for Kendrick it was just the start. This is the album that got me into rap music. Sure, I liked some rap songs before, but this was the rap album that changed my thoughts on rap. It's the strong point on this album. The only thing that holds it back from a 10 is that it is a bit too long (could have been trimmed down 5-10 minutes). Now I can tell those middle schoolers back in 2012-2013 that Kendrick is great, instead of saying that I don't listen to rap. I'm glad that this is becoming a classic. Expand

Kendrick Lamar's 2012 record "good kid, m.A.A.d city" is really a staple on hip hop in the 2010's. The storytelling is strong on this album, and Kendrick somehow manages to turn very bitter experiences into an enjoyable record, which hides how dark and dangerous Lamar's youth was with catchy flows and very notable production. A compelling sophomore album that improves upon 2011's "Section.80."

Good Kid, m.A.A.d City is definitely a very good conscious hip hop album, and the concept behind this project is clearly defined, explained, and developed throughout the sequence of songs. This album is a hip-hop classic. Kendrick provides a story of his youth in Compton over great production. The album is very thematic and almost plays out like a movie when I listen to it. My favorite tracks are m.A.A.d city, Backseat Freestyle, Money Trees, Poetic Justice, and Swimming Pools (Drank).

It's best song has to be M.A.A.D city with MC Eiht is an incredible song and very popular amongst Lamar fans. From top to bottom all song are great and chilling. Would recommend.

This album is absolutely phenomenal! Everything about it is great, from the sequenced track list, the incredible storytelling and lyricism as well as the impeccable production. The only song that I wasn’t crazy about was Real, though all the other tracks easily make up for it. Words cannot describe how much I love this album.

In another rapper's hands the concepts might have been overcooked or the messages too self-righteous, but Kendrick manages to achieve scale while remaining firmly grounded on two feet.

This is the best rap album of 2012--not just because of champion verses and immaculate drops, but because they recognize that the most brilliant foreground only shines against a well-defined backdrop.
