It’s an album that feels reflective but forward-thinking, observing a time and space but interpreting it in a way that all can appreciate.

Inspired by a trip to Japan, Good Luck and Do Your Best is one of Gold Panda's warmest, sunniest releases, reflecting the colorful foliage of the island nation.

Executed with conviction and instilled with its spirited concept, Good Luck and Do Your Best is an excitingly off-beat take on a feel-good album. This is Gold Panda’s most accomplished and adventurous work yet.

Better considered as an 11-track experience than a conventional record, Good Luck and Do Your Best is a work of admirable consistency and tonal clarity.

There’s a sense of positivity throughout that recalls the lighter works of contemporaries like CFCF or early Baths. Utilizing that warmth, Gold Panda is able to master restraint and thoughtfulness.

2013's Half Of Where You Live was largely built around recordings made while traveling the world, including Japan, so what's unique about Good Luck is how it sounds less like a specific place than a flurry of memories made there.

Good Luck and Do Your Best is dull, an affair that lacks curiosity because the answers are in front of him. None of the production is outright bad, just done before by the likes of Four Tet, Nujabes, and John Talabot.

"Metal Bird" starts the album out pretty energetic and fun along with the next few songs. Such as, "Chiba Nights" which is a really fun and a great tune to dance to! Then it starts to change once you get to "Song For a Dead Friend". A feeling of heavy weight starts to fill up the album and the weight seems to get heavier as the album goes on until the album ends with "Your Good Times are Just Beginning" which definitely lifts up the mood of the album, but not to where the heightened feeling was at the start. Overall a really awesome album! I gave it an 8/10 because their we're some songs I felt to repetitive or the structure felt off to me. Expand

A very nice, smooth listen. Nothing quite tops the joy of "In Your Car" but the sounds are precise and engaging throughout. GreatA very nice, smooth listen. Nothing quite tops the joy of "In Your Car" but the sounds are precise and engaging throughout. Great background/reading music Expand
