  • Summary: The hardcore rapper returns with his fifth studio album, hoping to duplicate the #1 success of each of his four previous LPs.

As fine as anything he's done, but overall Grand Champ makes too many R&B concessions to be a fitting epitaph to his record-breaking career. [Nov 2003, p.129]
  2. His big voice and big, good-vs-evil themes now need the gold lame beats of Grand Champ to deliver one last howling high.
  3. 70
His most relentlessly aggressive album yet. [Oct 2003, p.119]
  4. Not quite the big comeback DMX needed at this point in his quietly sagging rap career, Grand Champ regardless has its share of highlights.

Dis may not be DMX's best album but it still deserves a 10.If he desides to come out of retirement I would like to see him mix it up a bit more on his next album. Expand

this is a gr8 album, definately worth buyin' but "it's dark and hell is hot" is better. I think DMX has done excellent in hip-hop, but now that he's goin, his time has passed...and 50 CENT IS THE FUTURE!!! g-g-g-g-g UNIT!!!! Expand

I agree with a critic for once. Yeah this was a long album, too bad it wasn't one you didn't want to end. I found one maybe two possible single out of the whole thing, the rest sound ALOT alike. Had high expectations for this one, maybe next time. Expand
