The spirit of Happy to You is indie rock, but the sound is as addictively sharp as anything in the Top 40.

Like its predecessor, the new disc delivers a nice mixture of lighter fare with heavier songs acting as an anchor, though Happy To You has a distinctly animated glow.

Their second album pulls their punched-up, modernist synth pop into tighter focus while softening some of its sharper corners. [May 2012, p.83]

Karlsson and Winnberg's focus on gentle, warm sonic tones and catchy hooks should reassure fans of tracks like "Animal" and "Burial" that everything is under control. [No. 85, p.57]

While Happy to You is certainly an entertaining pop album, it very much falls in line with its predecessor by showing great melodic promise and musical creativity getting weighed down by a mouthpiece who sounds like he has something better to do with his time even when he's singing his own lyrics.

As it turns out, beneath all the shattering percussion, well-timed sound crashes, and plethora of borrowed ideas, Happy to You is rather skeletal.

A lot of the music on Happy To You, their second full-length, sounds excellent. Beats sparkle, synths crest and unfurl with purpose, horns come in at just exact right moment.... [Yet] too much of the time, too much is missing.

Miike Snow's second album takes a couple of listens to really understand, but is a great album once they transport you to their world. ThisMiike Snow's second album takes a couple of listens to really understand, but is a great album once they transport you to their world. This album will leave you playing your favorites over and over even if it is not quite as good as their eponymous debut. They continue to push their own comfort zones in music and the result is something that is as polished as anything that plays on the radio, yet quirky and full of substance. Overall a great album! Songs like the wave, black tin box, and paddling out show the amount of creativity this trio has in store. Expand

As much as their first album was fresh, happy, fun and inspired, this second record is dull, formulaic, lacking any energy or charm, also all the song sound exactly the same. It is certainly not worth one listen through even less several. Expand
