Excellent and indispensable. [Sep 2011, p.94]

From listening to both of the intended follow-ups to his first album, though, you wouldn't know any better, as both records capitalize on the musical maturity of Harlan County in different but equally satisfying directions.

It's sad for Ford's memory, but lucky for us: Harlan County remains a solitary delight, away and apart, to itself.

  1. One of the best albums ever made. Heard it for the first time in 2005 and got blown away by the songs, vocals, arrangements, everything. The best best description of Jim Fords music was made by the man himself: COUNTRYFUNKY Expand
