  • Summary: The actual first album for the Atlanta, Georgia, rock band finally receives an official release after being shelved in 1994.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 5
  2. Negative: 0 out of 5
  1. Rather than showing the humble beginnings of an experimental band, this album highlights the fact that, even from the very beginning, they were the enigmatic and impossibly heavy group that they are today.
  2. While this early work lacks the sheer violent width of the band’s more accomplished cousins The Melvins, its experimental energy is hard to miss.
  3. Harvey Milk has been referred to as The Bob Weston Sessions for some time; the remaster given to its ten songs serves to emphasise, rather than undermine, Weston’s keen ear for the dramatically heavy.
  4. 60
Not easy listening, but a reminder that to evolve, we must first emerge from the slime. [Apr 2010, p.91]
