  • Summary: This is the second LP for the Montreal-based indie-pop quartet featuring actor Torquil Campbell, Evan Cranley (also a member of Broken Social Scene), Amy Millan and Chris Seligman.

  1. You'd be hard-pressed to ask much more from a record.
  2. Heart is an exceptional sophomore effort, bursting at the seams with pop content, but the prism through which it travels bends it, taints it and humanizes it in ways that are at once soul-clenching and unpretentious.

    Gorgeous. [#7, p.92]
  4. It is utterly listenable and endlessly sweet.
  5. Like all pop music that treads so close to the overly-sappy line, the release stumbles only when it moves a little too close to adult contemporary. Fortunately, it only does that a couple of times.
  6. Fans of dream pop and chamber pop alike will find a lot to enjoy on this one.
  7. While the orchestration and production are impeccable and finely crafted, it's not hard to pick out influences from the 1980s, ranging from brooding rock to pulsing synthetic pop.

Not quite as good as "SYOF" but still pretty damn wonderful and gets a perfect 10 from me. Simply great music here!

The more I listen to this album the more I realize how great it is. And it's probably one of the finest albums of this millenium.

Amy Millan probably has the most beautiful voice that I've ever heard... Torquil Campbell isn't so bad himself, he's pretty good too. Both of them are fantastic together. Even though, I think SYOF is better and more consistent. Heart on the other hand is almost a flawless work of art. The only reason it doesn't get a perfect 10 is because I think the song "The Vanishing" is there weakest effort to date, it's not a bad song. It just ruins the flow of the album abit. Besides that this album is fiiled with so many memorable gems and that's why you're going to fall in love with it. Expand

a solid album, more ambitiously crafted than their debut, but the results are somehow less convincing and immediate. if you can find it, a solid album, more ambitiously crafted than their debut, but the results are somehow less convincing and immediate. if you can find it, check out their first album (Nightsongs) first. i prefer it.
