    Midway through Heavy Mood, Tilly hits a lull; "Hey Rainbow" and "I Believe In You" just don't pack the eclectic Tilly punch.... The pace picks back up with aggressively positive ender "Defenders."

    Some judicious editing on the band's part would have made this a worthy follow-up to their first two excellent albums but as it stands, it's more of a confused and confusing record that is hard to recommend to anyone except fans who came on board when O was released.

    What feels missing from Heavy Mood is specificity: Where are the characters, and what became of those kids passed out on the lawn? The heart of Heavy Mood is lost its in own sloganeering.

    For every standout near the beginning of the album-most notably the catchy girl group-aping "All Kinds of Guns"-there's a sorta-tedious ballad near the end.

    Heavy Mood has some good songs on it, but if you'd ask me which way to point I'd still say Bottoms of Barrels (the band's 3rd record).

    There's a lack of progression from previous albums that makes Heavy Mood a bit of a disappointment.

    Whereas the previous three Tilly & the Wall albums always featured a certain pop-wise innocence, despite whatever eccentricities they might also feature, Heavy Mood is mostly devoid of such.
