  1. Monochromatic can also be read as reliable, giving the people what they want and with Chesney, that's an easy, relaxed good timeā€¦it's just, now that he's in his 40s, he makes records designed for a quiet weekend afternoon at home instead of a Friday night kegger.

Hemingway's Whiskey is very much par for the course. [Dec 2010, p.114]
  3. He's a troubadour for the suburbs, a guy who sings about middle-class life with a plainspoken mixture of wistfulness and humor.

I honestly cannot believe the critics do not like this album (I agree with the critics most of the time) but this is the closest thing to goldI honestly cannot believe the critics do not like this album (I agree with the critics most of the time) but this is the closest thing to gold I have ever seen in music; beside Kendrick Lamar's Good kid maad city. There is not a bad song on the album. Yes, I will content that the lyrics are not Emily Dickinson or Walt Whitman good, but they are not Jason Aldean simple either. This album is funny, sad, sobering, hyper...Everything that is Kenny Chesney. Full Review »

TheKenny takes a bit of a risk here moving away from his typical on a vacation in the tropics sound. An goes a little dark. An it pays off . The songs a have an intimate feel and he sings the lyrics with a real sense of conviction. Bravo Kenny, it's your best album in years. Full Review »
