petefMay 5, 2004An enjoyable listen. But did they sell out? The album is a little more mainstreamed but not much. Funky tracks like Easy are a healthy reinvention.

JonahMay 15, 2004though it's more accessible, this album is their best because it is more cohesive than either the self-titled one or hot shots. its anthemic and reflective at the same time.

JimothyBMay 21, 2004While not as incredible as HSII, Beta Band has still shaped another truly great album.

wackymanMay 25, 2004by making a more accesible album actually they have made a non-conform album by beta band standards an ironic case of rebelry

BCMay 3, 2004I love the Beta Band. They don't like to be called hippies, but ever since Hot Shots II they've gravitated towards a more...positive tone. The lyrics fill you with hope and the music and is always interesting and fun. I see the Beta Band as the 21st Centuries Beach Boys/Timbaland hybrid. Come along for the ride.

JonnyRMay 4, 2004Great stuff from the Betas - the album flows well from one song to next. By far, this is the most accessible Beta Band album.

Taken as a group, Heroes to Zeros' slower songs are the musical equivalent of a month-long sinus infection: heavy on the repetition, sleepy detachment and sensory deprivation.

Q MagazineIt all feels so much more intentional than before, the mix of pop and experimentation they've long striven for. [May 2004, p.99]

Entertainment WeeklyMoon-eyed stoners looking for a 21st-century Pink Floyd should seek out the Beta Band. [7 May 2004, p.86]
