TeresaC.Aug 8, 20026The Vines aren't awful, but they lack individuality and a memorable song. I'd recommend buying the second two White Stripes album or The Strokes' "Someday" instead.

OllyJul 7, 20027Just listening to the album on the radio. I like it. It does sound very Nirvana, but occasionally launches into Supergrass like fun. Not bad.

dmjAug 30, 200210This album fucking rocks, great for a debut and certainly better than Nirvana's debut Bleach. I like Nirvana, but the Vines don't sound like them at all. Nirvana had this deep, dark bass sound, and some of there songs unfortunately inspired the nu-metal garbage of today(negative creep, scentless apprentess, hairspray queen) the vines are just straight rock, no frills.

johnbSep 15, 20039This is a great album from a truely gifted band. I saw them live in Hartford, Connecticut and was even more impressed. Can't wait for the follow up. Does anyone have any news on when it's due?

wendyhDec 12, 200210It a perfect mix of all that is rock, enhanced by Nicholls talent as a song writer and both, his vivacity and languidness.

JohnG.Jul 19, 200210Grunge needs to come back! Love these guys and they kick a$$ live!

AaronL.Jul 27, 20027Has it's moment and as a whole it is the best of the new rock bands like The Strokes and The Hives. Although they rock out, their ballads (especially 'Mary Jane') are quite outstanding and puts them near the top of the heap.

-
IanRJul 29, 20025Too many dull moments and songs that go nowhere but still manage to take ages getting there spoil the good bits in between. And they're awful live contrary to the blind hyperbole being spouted at present.

JBAug 12, 20023Everyone I know who owns this album doesn't like the Vines, they like the memories they're reminded of. Get past that, and this is not a good rock record.

KatyMJan 4, 200310I love this album. Craig is ultimately the new Kurt Cobain. A mix of drums, bass, guitar, and two great voices. Its overwhelming '1969' and 'Mary Jane' are definetly the high points of this CD. While songs like 'In the Jungle' show some attitude.

SaafireAngelJan 6, 200310Highly Evolved gets 9 points for being a kick ass album and 1 point because I want to screw Craig Nicholl's brains out while listening to it.

kodycAug 26, 200310Well I dont really care what anyone says bad about The Vines...I think they are some of the best musicians I have heard in a long time. The Vines are not pop and not all punk, they have the sound of a 60's-70's rock band and thats what I like about them. Rock On!

BrianK.Jul 19, 200210This is the best rock band of 2002! Grunge has revived and the vines have become the new kings. These guys are a blend of STP, Nirvana, Our lady peace, even a little bit of beatles with their britpop sound wedged between the hard/moody guuitar rifts, they sound good fast they sound good slow! 2002 belongs to the Vines!
