The best parts of classic rock find a home in Holy Vacants without ever seeming forced.

Somewhere between the clear narrative of Boy's Night Out's Trainwreck and the Dear Hunter's ongoing musical saga, it's one of the most compelling realized moments Trophy Scars' madness has produced. [May 2014, p.94]
  3. From front to back, Holy Vacants is a visceral, fist-pumping cornucopia of rage, terror, disappointment and instability.

Blues. Heavy riffs. Epic keys. Horns, strings, backup singers. What is going on here? This record is absolutely incredible. Very few bands dare to be different and just write a damn good album. Trophy Scars have done that. AOTY for me so far. Expand

This album just came from nowhere, but has just caught my imagination completely. It's been on repeat on my MP3 ever since. The only way I can think to describe what this album feels like is if John Lee Hooker and Metallica got together to cover Rolling stones and Smashing Pumpkins songs. Bluesy, hard rock, big band horns, it's refreshing to hear what is essentially an old fashioned rock and roll album, but that does not do it justice. There's no weak link and at times it hits perfection. This album is equal to anything that's been released in the last 10 years. Expand

This is another wonderful record by one of the most unique rock n roll bands on the planet. The production is amazing and the added string section, horn section, and girl choir just amp up the psychedelic epicness. The lyrics/story are mesmerizing and stand alone on their own right. The music is like a sprawling blues rock musical. Like a modern version of Pink Floyd's "The Wall." AOTY 2014 so far. Expand
