There's commendable range here, but rest assured, he spends much of Home in his sweet spot--lust.

Whether it represents Bentley releasing his inner stalker or not, there is a deep undercurrent of human longing on the album, on the fun and serious songs alike.

The result is a solid collection of good time country rockers ("Am I the Only One," "5-1-5-0"), poignant ballads (the heartwarmingly patriotic-yet-personal title track), and contemporary radio bait (the midtempo ripper "Tip It on Back" and the jaunty "Heart of a Lonely Girl").
  4. 70
The album also has its share of upbeat songs--pop-rock flavored numbers powered by bright guitar and vocal hooks that have plenty to offer radio, but considerably less to sink your teeth into upon sustained listening.
  5. Feb 7, 2012
    60
In a country field crowded with smooth pros, Bentley is sweaty and workmanlike.

These tougher remnants of the rootsy, down-home Up on the Ridge are enough to turn Home into a record that resonates longer and louder than Feel That Fire even when it shares much of the same radio-ready DNA.
  7. 50
Home may be where the heart is, but Bentley was a lot more compelling when he was poking around up on the ridge.
