Definitely one of the most impressive and unexpected rock albums of the last year or two, and pretty unlike anything out there...hence I guess the title of the record. "Drugwolf" and "I Cannot Answer You Tonight" are standouts, but there isn't a throwaway track on the entire thing.

Crime In Stereo's best album, and that's saying a whole hell of a lot. Continue's the experimental spirit of "...Is Dead", and explores it to the highest imaginable satisfying ends.

This is a very dense and challenging record on first listen. But, it has flashes of pop and beautiful harmonics, which make it an altogether captivating listen. I love its experimentalism, but sometimes it verges on being interesting rather than brilliant! This isn't a bad thing, it just means you have to let it take you on a sonically beautiful, but at times difficult journey. So, overall, an interesting album that captivates and necessitates repeat listens. Can't wait for the next one! Expand

Solid album. I wasn't even into this genre but this album has me interested. Not a bad track on the playlist.

Writing this review shortly after the band has split might be a biased. The album is absolutely fantastic. The tempo shifts, guitar play and lyrics will have you coming back time and time again. Track 1 through six never take the foot off the gas and leads into of the best singles (Type One) that didn't get the radio play it deserves. How did this band not make it? I'm not sure but I believe it's a testament on how bad commercialism and I'm sure of bad management can cover up an absolute gem of an album. Best classification of the album? No need to hit the skip button at any time. Looking forward to the reunion. Expand

  1. The band has sprinted forward and earned an Olympic title of the "P" word. I Was Trying to Describe You To Someone is going to turn heads and only gain more respect and fans in the process.
  2. CIS convey aggression and energy through a maddening array of effects pedals and the haunting, grainy tenor of Kristain Hallbert's reverberating voice, combining to form corrosive anthems embellished by space and nuance. [Mar 2010, p.92]
  3. Where 07's 'Is Dead' hinted at the band experimenting with a more progressive sound, it was nowhere near as cohesive and accomplished as this. I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone is a phenomenal album.
