    The Fiery Furnaces are more than capable of producing catchy three-minute pop songs. They simply waited until now to do so, resulting in one of their best albums yet.

    The band have hardly been better than on that EP's opening three song suite and that's what is so frustrating about I'm Going Away; it's not a bad album, but the band are capable of so much more; the title of the album is at least apt in that the Friedberger's don't sound like they are here for this record, it sounds like they already left and phoned this one in.

    Please, everyone, stop using the word "accessible". This album -- like "Widow City" it is not just a bunch of songs -- was made to shut up critics who want something just barely more adventurous than American Idol. Congratulations -- you succeeded magnificently. Now please get back to extending boundaries!… Expand

    I greatly disliked Widow City so my expectations were pretty low for this one. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm Going Away allows their huge talent to take front stage and it is accessible and fun to listen to.… Expand

    Really solid album. I am a die hard fan and was initially disappointed that it is so relatively tame for an FF album. But, after about 10 listens I have come to appreciate just how listenable it is. There are a number of very beautifully done songs on this album and I suspect that I'll be going back to the well and listening to it many times.… Expand
