Many would say a return to form for Sinéad O Connor but probably more accurate to say its a return to more pop oriented territory. "I'm Not Bossy..." is a slick number, decently produced, well written and well put together. At times its possibly over produced and O'Connors voice doesn't get the prominence it deserves but its the voice that is at the centre of everything. The new Sinead O'Connor is easily the biggest music surprise of the year. I listened to it out of curiosity, not expecting very much, but I was really blown away. It's easily her strongest collection since, "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got." - Just listen to it without prejudice and it will win you over.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The album is ok, in my opinion, but I don't think anything she has done of late has properly matched up to the greatness of I Do No Want What I Haven't got. However I respect Sinead with the powerful statements she has made and continues to make; and there are still a few very good tunes on this album. Expand

She is still in a good condition. She shows to young stars how to make good pop album. Recently there was feuds between her and Miley Cyrus that shows that contrast not between younger and older pop female singers but between that good-natured and rebellious singers. When you listen the song '8 Good Reasons' whole album seems like '12 Good Answers' then.

This album had a really cool storytelling arc (about a woman who needs the attention of men growing into a more independent and self-confident woman) plus some good singles like "Take Me to Church" and "Where Have You Been?" And although it isn't a life-changing listen, it's still pretty catchy.

It's a shame that the album starts so blandly. [Sep 2014, p.109]

I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss is the work of neither dominatrix nor diva. It is, however, Sinéad O’Connor’s most emotive, accessible work in years and could well thrust her back into the limelight all over again.

I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss is simply a remarkable collection of well-made songs. [Sep 2014, p.94]
