Immunity, 4 albums studio de l'anglais Jon Hopkins, transcende son genre. C'est un album aux multiples facettes, mixant à la fois le techno, ambiant, électro tout en ajoutant des touches de basses non pas s'en rappeler les premières expérimentations dubstep. L'efficacité de l'album est surtout retenue par l'arrangement et l'influence classique que Hopkins a reçue lors de son apprentissage académique. Il va de l'avant avec décompositions entachées de vécu, tirant consciemment l'auditeur dans tous les racoins de ses 8 chansons. Un album qui fait voyager et qui part sa grande authenticité, vie par lui-même.Contrairement à son dernier album Inside, Immunity offre une alternative intéressante aux amateurs d'électronique. Au lieu de sauter les chansons pour découvrir ce que l'album réserve, Immunity offre 8 mondes pratiquement indépendantsles uns des autres. Il va s'en dire que les 8 chansons sont méticuleusement retravaillées pour ne pas donner la mauvaise impression du déjà entendue. L'ironie dans l'œuvre est que l'album forme une entité parfaitement cohérente et bien axée sur l'influence que Hopkins offrent à ses chansons et non le contraire. Le procédé de composition est semblable à n'importe quelle composition électronique. La grande puissance de l'album réside dans l'orchestration des différents éléments présentés. Il est surprenant de bouger la tête sur des rythmes flirtant avec les 600 beats per minutes, pour ensuite se retrouver presque bouleversé par des pièces cosmiques, planantes et extrêmement espacées. L'amalgame des sonorités utilisées est génial. Hopkins n'utilise aucun échantillon reconnaissable (mis à part le rythme de piano du film 28 jours plus tard de Danny Boyle sur Form By firelight), et jouer régulièrement avec le tempo de ses chansons presque toutes guidées par des lignes de basses audacieuses et assumées. Immunity ne ressemble à rien. Il est difficile d'associer son son à ce qui a déjà été fait. C'est du Hopkins, voilà tout. Expand
