  1. Listeners who came of age during the alt-rock revolution and were disappointed, even outraged, at Liz Phair's Matrix makeover in 2003 should find In Exile Deo is exactly what they were looking for.
  2. The songs on In Exile Deo are her strongest yet.
  3. Compellingly merges her girlish voice and bittersweet melodic sensibility with forthright lyrical insight. [21 May 2004, p.77]
  4. Hatfield's finest work in a decade.
  5. Possibly Hatfield's best work since her solo debut.
  6. Hatfield sounds content to turn out wistful songwriter-with-backup fare that rocks lightly and stays bright around the corners. [10 Jun 2004, p.91]
  7. Her attempts to swagger on songs like Dirty Dog will fool nobody. [Aug 2004, p.112]

Solid work with some jaw-dropping moments. Where it's perfectly on, it's lush and brilliant; where it's off, it's merely pleasant. I look forward to her next record. Full Review »
