Not a bad album at all. Its a pleasant listen, and its very appropriate to become a soundtrack for the summer. However, i feel this album just doesn't stand among other indie-pop albums that have been recently released. It has its bright spots, but for the most part its average. Three main things stood out to me from this wonderful album: One, their abilities in melody-writing, to have songs which are filled with multiple tunes, each very catchy and well-done in their own. Two, their beautiful instrumentation, including tasteful electronics, fast-ringing guitars, and even some truly unique stuff (like flutes). Three, their beautiful ignorance towards bland, over-washed song structure. They break the general rules of how a song should be organized and go off in whatever direction they want, which I think adds a lot of character and distinction to their sound. Overall, this album is well done, and very, very joyous. If you aren't a fan of happy, joy-filled indie pop, this album isn't for you. However, if you can overlook an overwhelming common emotional theme, you'll see some great singers working their masterful song-writing abilities in a very fun and addicting album. Expand

It's a shame that their modishness acts against them, but sometimes, playing all the right notes in the right order just isn't enough. [Nov 2011, p.92]

This world music/indie rock mix is countered by the affecting melancholy of their quieter moments. [Nov. 2011, p. 143]

This is not music that hangs around in the brain, for reasons that aren't particularly clear.
