This album is amazing. It's cohesive, bold, and oh so true if you've ever been in a relationship. If you're looking for r&b fluff, than see Rihanna or Beyonce. If you want a true artist who writes and co-produces her own music and lives and breathes her art, pick up this great album!

This album is the best thing that happened to the year 2009, musically. Amerie has improved and grown artistically. A must have listened for any R'n'B/Soul/HipHop fan.

If u like other Amerie albums, you're gonna love this one. It has everything, from funk, r'n'b, hip hop, pop.. Maybe not good as Becouse I Love It, but definitely deserves a high score.

The album has such a great mix of different types of music: pop, rock, r&b, soul, funk and hip-hop. She's highly underrated in the industry and it is a shame that reviewers focus more on "1 Thing" than her newer material but the fact that she is able to make such exciting music that is personally written and co-produced by herself is a testament to her talent and overall love for music.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this album. I really didn't think Amerie could release anything that would come close to the VERY underrated Because I Love It, but man oh man, In Love & War has been the best surprise of my year. This is a real, complete album. It's not hyped with big producers; you won't be hearing the-dream, timbaland or the neptunes on this one. Amerie writes her own LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this album. The best R&B Album this year hands down. My only wish is that her label would have gave it real promotion.

My favourite of Amerie's four albums, as she only got better with time! A great selection of R&B tracks but there seems to be less R&B as she is working more with other genres and mixing them around. The two main singles are highlights and there is only one slightly dull song on here. A great album, and one of my personal faves!

  1. Amerie returns with In Love & War, an album that is much more creative than its title indicates while also playing out a bit like Because I Love It redux.
  2. In Love & War matches the brash energy of her biggest hit — though it's not for lack of trying, with many of these tunes shamelessly mimicking '1 Thibg.'
  3. On Amerie's fourth album, she excels at getting in your face without overdosing on divatude — not much excessive Beyoncé-size vocalizing here.
