A lot could be said about this album. I was very weary about this release. I mean, why would we want Brian to redo Disney songs. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I truly recommend Bare Necessities, Kiss the Girl and We Belong Together. Even the awful Can't You Feel The Love Tonight has become listenable due to the restraint Wilson version. Is it on par with his best work? Of course not. But that clearly was not the goal. It's an album for children and the child inside the man. If you want Brian at his height, buy the Smile Sessions. If you also like hearing Brian enjoying himself in a carefree manner, this album is a nice companion. Collapse

In Mickey Mouse terms, this album is more the blandly suburban color Mickey than the anarchic black-and-white Mickey. The shape is the same; the spirit isn't.

Mostly, the album suffers from just too much of the patronizing, saccharine Disney vibe and not enough echt Wilson.

Despite the natural feel of these songs as sung by Wilson and performed by his talented backing band, anyone who's paid attention to his solo career of the '90s and 2000s won't hear any surprises.
