Infinity Overhead's smorgasbord of sounds should please every level of Minus The Bear fan.

The fluidity is back, all the parts gelling easily into a whole.

Its [closing track Close Company] guitars are huge, its drums are pounding, and it sums up the record perfectly: dark, sexy and gargantuan.

The band threatens to be as precious as a teddy bear, especially during ballads, and often feels too eager to show off its many mastered styles, but consistency and sincerity keep Minus the Bear from descending into showboating dilettantism.

There are more than enough licks to compensate when that tendency [to sound whiny or emo-ish] gets a little overwhelming. [No.91, p.57]

'Infinity Overhead' finds [Minus the Bear] pondering The Big Questions, confirming suspicions that amateur existentialism and post-millennial indie rock comprise a winning formula.

So many of its melodies tend to bleed into the background, and it takes time to pick apart what's worthwhile.

[The album] is diverse in the songs' styles and themes. [Oct 2012, p.96]

Minus The Bear are back on track. [22 Sep 2012, p.51]

Minus The Bear may have returned to the style that made their name, but there is still enough mileage in that sound to ensure that 'Infinity Overhead' is a marked improvement on their previous album.

The album touches on just about every idea that has made this group a big deal in the first place, but it lacks the sex-appeal of the group's last full length, OMNI, and misses the adventure of Planet of Ice.

Though Infinity Overhead isn't exactly a return to form for Minus the Bear, it does find them moving back toward what they do best, and is a step in a promising direction for fans hoping for the band to return to the more vigorous sound of Menos el Oso.

A step backwards, demonstrating that to rehash old sounds you need to prop them up with new tunes.

At points, the overly sappy lyrics are sung with fervor and match the passion put into the music, but ultimately, the album doesn't feel cohesive.

Like OMNI, this record seems a bit trite.

Rock this clinical just isn't exciting. [Nov 2012, p.103]

Another exciting and engaging effort from Minus the Bear. They may not be breaking any new ground here, but at least I know all is well in the world.
