It's not bad and has a few very good moments but it's pretty standard brit pop with a little bit of extra style to it. The longer this band have gone on and produced music, the less time I seem to have for this record.

Inside In/Inside Out is a really good album. These are soft pop melody tracks that are sung really nice by Luke Pritchard. It's nothing groundbreaking, but these English hipsters know how to make music and it shows on this album. B+

Great songs! Energetic and addictive. These guys are very talented and deserve some praise. Songs don't have to be so different that they are bizarre and depressing to be good songs. The main weakness I see is in their lyrics which are immature and too fague. BUT, their youthful optimism and talent overpower any issues with the lyrics. I can't wait to hear their next songs.

the arctic monkeys have nothing on the kooks. this album is one that i first heard about overseas (where the kooks are MASSIVE) and are getting no play or credit over here. This album i have listened to countless time and I am so excited to see what they can do next. best tracks on the album: Ooh La, Matchbox, Eddie's Gun , and of course Naive

Good melodies but the album could be someway repetitive, there are songs so similar each other. Good instant hits, like She moves in her own way, an amazing song that i'll never forget. Sorry, my english is too bad, i'm from basque country

They remind me of Hot Hot Heat, only better. Good melodies throughout the album although some of it sounds repetitive. Don't look for deep meaning in the lyrics; it's just fun.

The kooks are new and fresh and have followed on in opening the indie doorway along with the likes of the arctic monkeys and kasabian. Once you buy the album you realise, by looking in the little leaflet thing that comes with it, just how well structured their songs are. Definately one for your collection.

I think they are great, they sound great, and I love them, I pretty much don't care about reviews, because I don't trust the taste of the people that do them, so,to me, The Kooks are awesome and I love tolisten to their songs, and I don't care how "memorable" they are, that is just stupid. And by the way, the lyrics are good too.

This album is not generic in any way. All the songs are amazing, well structured and sang extremely well. The songs are poppy enough to be widely recieved, and also brilliant enough to be critically praised. The Kooks Rock....incredible new band!

The teen public will love it. The lyrics are weak. Good voice. Polished pop. Waiting for the next release.

This one surprised me. First, it is a highly polished pop rock recording -- the attention to detail is Beatlesque. Second, the hooks are lively and memorable. OK, sometimes the lyrics are insanely weak, but these Brit voices could sing the phone book and sound appealing. It's a lot of fun and improves with each listen.

I got this album as soon it was released. So why have I not written a review before now. Probably because my time has been used to sit and listen to them and wonder how The Kooks created such a great debut. This album is deserving of a 9. I think it has originality in comparison to a lot of new bands. And variety. It's soft, laid back, but with that 'rocky' beat. It seems I got this album as soon it was released. It seems that Luke Pritchard has adopted Johnny Borrells style of singing, but adapted it making the songs more original and in a way, exciting. A definite recommendation. Tres Bon! Expand

Run of the mill act for mine. Sounds pretty much like every second or third new band coming out of this new rock implosion. Nothing original and nothing really grabbing here.

And now for a sensible score! This album is not a 8, 9 or a 10 only truely great albums deserve scores that high. That said however, this album is an enjoyable listen and the single 'Niave' should be rereleased for the summer as I'd love to hear it ringing out round pubs throughout the land whilst I'm sat in the beer garden enjoying the sun.

Its a superb album from start to finish, I'm majorly impressed. Talented musicians who have a real knack for writing interesting melodies, showing some great diversity throughout the record. I cant stop listening to 'naive', its sublime. Checkitout

I definitely agree with the people who rated this as a decent album, it definitely was more of a pleasent surprise than the Arctic Monkey's album, and I was actually expecting way more out of it than I was form this one when I got it...The music is clean, catchy and doesn't grate on your nerves the way the immaturity of many other indie bands can tend to do after a short while. I ahd never even heard of these guys before I saw them on here, and I usually only give higher rated albums a try, and this makes me glad that I just went for a lower rated one for once. The lesson here: Don't always listen to critics, they can be as bad as your run-of-the-mill fanboys... Expand

yes a 2. The music "oh my baby be gone lon' time" is crappy. The Hooks don't hook. Nothing memorable, 60 minutes of pure noise. If you like these kind of songs at least check out Maximo Park. They're at least smart about their love songs.

This album is so underrated. The Kooks makes the Arctic Monkeys or the new strokes album sound like Offspring. Catchy hooks, nice arrangements, and a great voice. Don't believe the slightly low score; check these guys out!

  1. Greater things may well be in the pipeline for The Kooks, but this is sadly lacking in anything to fall - or indeed remain - in love with.
  2. They are a less irreverent and more melodic Art Brut, swapping that band’s caustic wit for a far nicer type of honesty.
  3. A blindingly bright future beckons.
