    Irresistible. [#22, p.93]
  2. For now, at least, these kids are all right, and bubbling with ideas.
  3. An almost-perfect blend of '60s-style Britpop, '90s-style Britpop, and the post-punk of the new millennium, Inside In/Inside Out is the rare debut that features not only the kind of exuberance/naivete that only bunch of nineteen-year-olds could produce, but also the thoughtful consistency characteristic of seasoned professionals.

An eclectic but thoroughly satisfying record. [21 Jan 2006, p.35]
  5. A blindingly bright future beckons.

Breathless power-pop offset by an innuendo-laden lyricism. [Mar 2006, p.98]
  7. There are a couple of decent Brit-pop numbers... but the rest is utterly forgettable, shoddily produced retro rock that at its worst sounds like a Brighton-accented version of the Spin Doctors, minus the hit songs and amusing facial hair.

These guys are very talented and deserve some praise. Songs don't have to be so different that they are bizarre and depressing to be good songs. The main weakness I see is in their lyrics which are immature and too fague. BUT, their youthful optimism and talent overpower any issues with the lyrics. I can't wait to hear their next songs. I think they are great, they sound great, and I love them, I pretty much don't care about reviews, because I don't trust the taste I think they are great, they sound great, and I love them, I pretty much don't care about reviews, because I don't trust the taste of the people that do them, so,to me, The Kooks are awesome and I love tolisten to their songs, and I don't care how "memorable" they are, that is just stupid. And by the way, the lyrics are good too. Expand

So why have I not written a review before now. Probably because my time has been used to sit and listen to them and wonder how The Kooks created such a great debut. This album is deserving of a 9. I think it has originality in comparison to a lot of new bands. And variety. It's soft, laid back, but with that 'rocky' beat. It seems that Luke Pritchard has adopted Johnny Borrells style of singing, but adapted it making the songs more original and in a way, exciting. A definite recommendation. Tres Bon! Expand

They remind me of Hot Hot Heat, only better. Good melodies throughout the album although some of it sounds repetitive. Don't look for They remind me of Hot Hot Heat, only better.
