Tallied up, the hits and the misses are about equal. But it would be unfair to describe Interstellar as middling. What the misses lack is not quality but a strong sense of self in terms of songcraft.

There's a certain lack of substance throughout the album which isn't fully covered up by Rose's elegant stoner shimmying.

The album sounds familiar far too quickly. [But] when Interstellar hits, however, it hits hard.

It is a compilation of indie rock melodies with sublimed role of synthesizers and kind of muffled sound ("Know Me", "Gospel-Grace"), characteristic to shoegaze style. It is unfortunate that there's a lack of any distinctive numbers on the record. Full Review »
