  • Summary: Internationally acclaimed rockers release their sixth album since Neil Finn first formed the band 25 years ago, featuring production by Jim Scott from Wilco.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 10 out of 13
  2. Negative: 0 out of 13
  1. Through it all, Finn's durable songcraft never fails to enthrall.
  2. It may not be flashy but it's sturdy and expertly honed, reflecting Finn's craftsmanship on a song-by-song basis but holding together better as an album than any Finn project in recent memory.
  3. 80
Intriguer may be more route one than 1993's mighty, loose-limbed "Together Alone," but it is classic Crowded House, and greater for it. [Jul 2010, p.97]
  4. 60
Much of Intriguer leaves one yearning for the unbound pop of "Now We're Getting Somewhere" or the straightforwardly confident balladry of "Better Be Home Soon." [Jul 2010, p.104]

  1. I love Neil Finn, but this isn't my favorite of his music. Not to say I hate it--Twice If You're Lucky and Amsterdam are 2 very good songs--but the album as a whole just doesn't stick with me like every other Crowded House or Neil Finn album does. Collapse
