While this album is very much different compared to her other releases, Invisible Empire Crescent Moon has a special heart both in my music library and heart. Amazingly Introspective, with an air of mysticism yet highly enjoyable. This is the stuff of 10/ 10 solitary road trips! Ms. Tunstall churns out a classic once again!

I was never particularly into KT Tunstall but saw on Later with Jools Holland last year and decided I'd check out her latest album which at the time was this, "Invisible Empire". There are a number of really good songs spread among several others which drift along without doing much and to be honest I was far more impressed with her live performance on Jools Holland than the record. Still, its well worth checking out if your into female vocalists and folk with a bit of a twist. Expand

There's a soft Americana influence here, and in a way it's reminiscent of early Big Star. [Aug-Sep 2013, p.100]

This is an album Tunstall likely needed to make, a catharsis in song that would inevitably sound far removed from her first three efforts.

Despite using occasional strings, steel drums euphonium, woodwinds, and even a mellotron, this is not a slick affair.
