Best of the Idol debut albums, peppered with variety and Jordin's vocals remain flawless through the entire album. For an added treat, seek out the track "Overcome," which was unwisely dropped from the debut.

You know "music journalism" is in the sh.thole when this dumb slut gets good reviews. Pure corporate soulless auto-tuned garbage.

An incredible effort for a debut CD - cutting edge R&B with modern POP inflections. The vocals are smoother than can be expected fro a 17 year old. The music production is modern and provides a excellent compliment.

In my opinion this album is very, very fresh. most of the songs are very melodic & catchy. My favorites are: Freeze, Just for the Record, God Loves Ugly and One Step at a Time. So go & buy it & you will not regret it !!!!

Honestly, how critics can respect artists like Jordan Sparks and Carrie Underwood more than Kelly Clarkson is beyond me.

Despite average reviews and some a.i. fans will be disappointed with the modern r & B sound. This album has bad tracks as well, however; it has 3 or 4 great singles that make this album above average in my opinion.

I think the CD is great. She gets to show a lot more what she is capable as compared to what she got to do on the show. She is just an all around talent who I think we will be here for a long time to come.

Pretty good debut. A bit heavy on the slow songs, but better than any other Idol debut CD thats for sure. Yes..better than "Some Hearts"! Try it out, you might like it! 7.5/10

  1. Sparks and a cast of au courant pop producers combine that sense of sparkle, striving, and her powerful pipes for an age-appropriate, uniformly pleasant release that shouldn't disappoint those voters.
  2. Despite the misfires, Jordin Sparks is as much effervescent fun as any post-Idol bow.
  3. The album shrewdly positions her in hip-hop-flavored R&B, which is interesting because it's one style she never touched on the show.
