Entertainment and enrichment are provided unsparingly.

In cleaning up his act and focusing his attention on socially relevant soul music, ChesnuTT left behind some of the experimentation and sense of playfulness that initially made him so beguiling.
  3. Oct 30, 2012
Landing is an apt reflection of an artist restarting after several years, but without sacrificing the eccentricity that initially made him such a compelling figure.

This follow-up is cleaner, from the grand arrangements to the lyrics about true love rather than tits and ass, but is never bland. [Nov 2012, p.71]

    Nov 21, 2012
ChesnuTT's thrilling unorthodoxy remains in off-kilter arrangements and strange details. [Dec 2012, p.101]

Landing On A Hundred is a strong comeback that hopefully won't be followed by another decade of silence. [Dec 2012, p.84]

Perhaps not a headphone masterpiece, but a generous slice of frank and thought-provoking tracks regardless.
  8. Oct 30, 2012
Landing On A Hundred never comes off like a work of mere pastiche, but it rarely sounds like something that only he would have made.
  9. Dec 18, 2012
You don't have to know Cody ChesnuTT's back story to appreciate all this--the journey is right there in the lyrics.

His strength rests in an ability to blend the social and the political with the romantic and the coarse and not come off as self-righteous or phony.
  11. Oct 29, 2012
It's not perfect... Overall, though, this is a long overdue, welcome comeback.
  12. Jan 24, 2013
Revealing and inspiring, Landing on a Hundred bangs on the headphones, but sounds like a minor masterpiece on your speakers.
  13. Oct 30, 2012
It's a knowing classic-soul revision, with Mr. Chesnutt openly indulging his vocal debt to Marvin Gaye. Lyrically he's still reaching for raw emotion and ripe provocation.
  14. Oct 29, 2012
Whilst it's a shame we've had to wait the best part of a decade for this collection of songs there is rejoicing in the fact these have been released to the musical world. There is little that will trouble MTV playlist compilers but much to satisfy soul-deprived purists.

Easy-going vintage soul that rolls magnificently on the ear.
  16. Oct 30, 2012
Recorded live on the floor with his band, ChesnuTT's second album cuts the fat away for a lean, no-bullshit sweet soul program that hearkens back to the heyday of the O'Jays and Al Green.

Lone soul genius Cody ChesnuTT's in dazzling form on Landing on a Hundred, which must be the most impressive crowd-funded album ever.
  18. 80
[Landing on a Hundred Years is] a much leaner, concise collection of rich and soulful tunes that takes in the last 50 years of funk, soul and R&B, and catalyzes that history into something warm and vibrant, yet altogether fresh.
  19. The Atlanta singer delivers soulful, socially conscious meditations.
  20. Nov 15, 2012
It's a pleasure to listen to, and perhaps its sheer existence (thanks in part to crowdsourcing on Kickstarter) is a fact to be celebrated in itself

Cody ChestnuTT is talented, but I'm afraid it's a little too late since his last record. Still, Landing On A Hundred is a good album by the soul singer, who still knows how to make an enjoyable tune even after his incredibly long hiatus. Full Review »
