  • Summary: The third album for the R&B artist features a guest appearance by Lil Wayne.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 2 out of 10
  2. Negative: 1 out of 10
  1. Lyrically, Polite rarely strays far from a seducer's template, but the way in which he sells the cliche is compelling.
  2. Lloyd still serves up a satisfying sophomore suite.
  3. Certainly it's a listenable set--well produced, well-sung and, well, dull.
  4. Between 'I'm Wit It,' 'Girls,' and a couple other standouts, Lessons and Love cannot be dismissed, but Lloyd will have to really change it up with his fourth album to evade a real holding pattern.
  5. For the most part, this is a bland blur of midtempo grooves and sub-R. Kelly metaphors. [8 Aug 2008]
  6. Lessons is largely comprised of heavy-beated, midtempo ballads—a trend that is, admittedly, preferable to the schmaltzy AC ballads of the '90s and the drippy baby-makin' jams of the recent past.
  7. Dismal offering from would-be R&B Lothario, this 14-song supposed sexual odyssey is more like a soundtrack to a day in the life of Mr Bean than Hugh Hefner.

Good album. Not StreetLove but is consistent with that album as for the content & singing ability. He needs to keep doing what he is doing because he sounds nothing like the trendy young artists of today. Expand

It had a lot having to do with sex, but some songs were really good, ya know? Got a 6, because his previous album was really good and this album is almost that of his previous one. Expand
