Think of a cross between The Partridge Family and Captain Beefheart and you're in the same vicinity as this offering. However, the cacaphony is clearer on this than on a lot of albums by your basic vocalist/drum/bass/guitar bands, even though this group numbers 29. There are some genuinely likeable songs here, if you don't mind the inanity of some of the topics. This is an amazing album! "Let Me Introduce My Friends" is simple and sweet. If you need a good album to start out a weekend, this is it. I'm from Barcelona nail it!

Charting in teritory only the bravest of men face. I hate indie, but I think I get this album. I can relate.

this is brilliant. 29 friends laughning at the music industry, full of irony and sarcasm.and I must say i find it quite liberating.. a "we don´t really give a damn"-band, a group of friends who discovered the core of music and now pushing it to it´s very limit.. sure it´s a sugary sweet feelgood- can´t get outta my head though I want to-record, but i just saw this this is brilliant. 29 friends laughning at the music industry, full of irony and sarcasm.and I must say i find it quite liberating.. a "we don´t really give a damn"-band, a group of friends who discovered the core of music and now pushing it to it´s very limit.. sure it´s a sugary sweet feelgood- can´t get outta my head though I want to-record, but i just saw this crazy mental band live- mad choir-PUNK. that´s what it really is. I have been enlightened and set free. Expand

Solid music by a solid (if not huge) contingent of swedes. Too bad the sheer size of the 29 member band, only really resonates on 2 songs (We're From Barcelona & Treehouse). I mean The Besnard Lakes and Arcade Fire have less than 1/2 their members and still produce a larger sound, worth owning though.

Those who criticize this record are looking for something that isn't there. This record is pure fun, and it succeeds admirably in that. No, the lyrics are not poetry, but there is a lot of charm in the silliness. Don't take this too seriously, and you will find it a very worthwhile record.

Catchy, comfortable music. Screw you, critics! 11 of the 13 songs are as good as anything else on the radio right now, or off it.

Only the terminally humourless could fail to apprecaiate the easy charm and wit in these songs.

Predictably, an album that is unashamed to be the sweetest thing in the room gets clubbed by the man-boys with axes to grind. Make no mistake, this is a flawed album, but a very good album for a debut. Not everyone likes cute in their music, but there is an undeniable talent here. Bash if you like, but know that we totally make fun of your terrible metal music behind your back...

  1. The sort of euphoric, sweetly intentioned indie pop that, despite occasionally making Belle & Sebastian sound like Da Lench Mob, nevertheless manages to stay the right side of cloying.
  2. They are a handful of shit, of wan, barely extant songs and feeble musings, of worn gimmickry and careful over-production, aping Sufjan and a dozen others, flung against a cultural brick wall.
  3. Depending on your temperament, this translates to either the Feelgood Band Of 2006 or a horrific saccharine overdose.
