  1. Liars and Prayers' only flaw may be that its unflagging intensity is almost overwhelming, given that the album is nearly an hour long, but it's still some of Zedek's most thoughtful and full-bodied work.
  2. Quiet or loud (and it is mostly loud), this is one of the year’s most intense and fiercely passionate albums.
  3. Liars and Prayers' success is owed as much to the band as its leader, but in the end, there's still no doubt about who's working on whose watch.
  4. But the real appeal remains Zedek’s humbled insights, a worldview informed by an affirmation of our common suspicion that “there are some things you can’t see / with a roof over your head,” and, having lived as such, her solitary cold comfort: “if you don’t like the answer / maybe you shouldn’t ask.”
  5. Under The Radar

Though Zedek's melancholic voice is still the main attarction, the singer/songwriter still knows how to wield both her voice and axe in equal measure to provide the beauty in pain. [Summer 2008, p.93]
