With over 30 releases this year alone, L.I.E.S. isn't always an easy label to keep up with, but the embarrassment of riches contained within Music for Shut-Ins suggests that the effort may well be worth it.

The title might tell you they're not too concerned with dance floors, but the music itself suggests otherwise.
  3. Dec 20, 2013

[Ron Morelli] actively dislikes clubs--but he’s managing to infiltrate them with this insurgent electronic music.
  4. Jan 9, 2014

The most heartening thing to be said about Music for Shut-Ins is that it reflects the opposite ethos, a go-for-broke glut of great songs in or around house music’s orbit.

Music for Shut-Ins is valuable for the manner in which it acknowledges the true masters while still allowing room for non-canonical influences, expanding rather than replacing or limiting possibilities. [Jan 2014, p.64]

The pleasurably gnashing dissonance of Music for Shut-Ins' past/present collision suggests that the L.I.E.S. label's what's-next surprises are far from growing stale just yet.
