Life In Slow Motion - David Gray
Life In Slow Motion Image
  • Summary: This is the British singer-songwriter's first album in three years, and it finds him working with an outside producer (Marius De Vries) for the first time.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 7 out of 15
  2. Negative: 0 out of 15
  1. [Gray has] stepped up his own game with richer production, bigger arrangements and a renewed sense of purpose that makes songs like "Alibi" and "Disappearing World" sound like his most epic work yet.
  2. On his most affecting cuts, such as the lilting, elegiac title track, Gray works up the kind of gentle melancholia that goes down smooth, but reappears later, in your head.
  3. A rewarding listen for the faithful who have the time, patience, and inclination to dig into this, but for those whose dedication isn't so strong, this is sweet, gentle, and ultimately forgettable.

very over-produced. any album he makes from now on will never match the anger and emotion of A Century Ends and Flesh..Not one track on this album is close to Shine and Coming Down. I am a big David Gray but I will be sticking to his older albums for the time being. A let down. Expand

I've always been a big David Gray fan, but this is album is too predictable and straightforward. Those saying its OK that he tossed away the brilliance of his style for "strings", "beauty", "passion" and "big sound" are only kidding themselves. Its a safe album to support the $50 concert seats.
