Alternative PressJun 17, 2011It's possibly the band's most poignant work to date. [Jun 2011, p.107]

Jun 7, 2011With all of that said and there was plenty said this album is not only highly recommended I would have to say for me at least it is one of the better efforts of 2011 and will more than likely end up on an end of the year round up.

Jun 7, 2011Kinsella's lyrical wit is still affecting, displayed in both song titles ("Howdy Pardoner") and his always honest, direct lyrics about relationships ("Let's cut each other's strings/Give me a hand if you understand").

Under The RadarJun 8, 2011Tracks sparkle and chime with instrumental fire and unhinged vocal performances, the songs twisting and turning unexpectedly, and ultimately satisfyingly on repeated listens. [May 2011, p.88]

Jun 7, 2011The lack of any real experimentation does mean that it fails to match the very best of the Joan Of Arc, but the consistency and restraint on display puts Life Like in a lot, lot better light then some of the group's hugely varied output

Jun 7, 2011A lot of bad music is plenty catchy, though. To give Kinsella a pass just because Life Like is begrudgingly more melodic would be unfair to the hardworking musicians everywhere who dare to have a better attitude towards sex, music, and everything else than he can ever seem to manage.
