  1. At its worst, Light Grenades is a little scattered, but when it's good, Incubus sound only like their hard-rocking sentimental selves.

The tearjerkers flow free on their sixth studio album. [Jan/Feb 2007, p.88]
  3. 50
The album flounders during their attempts at arty funk. [Jan 2007, p.92]
  4. The music’s intricacies become less impressive when so many of them are directly lifted from far better songs. [27 Nov 2006]
  5. 'Light Grenades' offers little change to Incubus' formula of having Brandon Boyd perform his brand of strained vocal gymnastics. [2 Dec 2006, p.30]
  6. 40
The band seem to have suffered a who-are-we?-style mid-life crisis. [Jan 2007, p.100]

I don't like the direction they have gone with on dig, oil and water and the earth to Bella's. Although i would argue the ending to earth to Bella part 2 is a great showcase for the musicianship that incubus has at its disposal. Mike Enzinger is fantastic throughout, he displays fantastic riffs and innovative solo's throughout, for the majority of the album Boyd accompanies with a great rock voice even if the lyrics do suffer a little.
