    Startlingly good. [29 Sep 2006, p.80]
  3. What surprises most about Like Red On A Rose is how well this departure suits Jackson.
  4. The songs here are superb, the arrangements and production nearly perfect, and Jackson’s singing is the best of his career.
  5. 2006's uncanniest country record.
  6. Jackson ties everything together with his own understated strengths, a sincere manner and grounded perspective that anchor tunes even as they brim with thoughtful passions.
  7. If there's a downside to this brilliant, if unlikely pairing, it's that Krauss's somber program could benefit from something a tad more libidinous or uptempo.

I can't believe all the crap that ended up on the top thirty of 2006 list. It's not fair to include an album that only has 8 I can't believe all the crap that ended up on the top thirty of 2006 list. It's not fair to include an album that only has 8 reviews. They should really raise that because it you only included the best 8 reviews of any number of great album from 2006, they would have had in the 90's. For 2007 we get Miranda Lambert's pretentious country crap for the top thirty albums of the year. The woeful trend continues. Full Review »

This is a wonderful CD, both instrumentally and vocally. Alan's voice is very senuous and moving. This CD showcases his marvelous voice. This is a wonderful CD, both instrumentally and vocally. His best work in years. Alan was doing the same album over and over since High Mileage in 1998... What a relief.
