gerrardotAug 3, 20049Classic debut. Good to to hear music that has something to say for a change. This is a truly important record.

oldgreenOct 7, 20048first half of this album absolutely perfect......but second half lacks something.

TomMyOct 10, 200610None of this 'first half good, second half weak' rubbish... Or vice versa. The entire album is genius. Sure, it's raw. But it's got real depth, which is lacked in 'Left', the good-but-not-brilliant follow-up. Inspired and out of the ordinary, with emotional music matched by heartfelt vocals, this album deserved so much more success than it achieved.

PolOct 19, 20049a couple missteps but besides that, youre not gonna hear a better, fully formed debut like this every day. these guys are special. the production isn't the most balanced, but the songs themselves salvage things. they will only get better.

mikedJul 25, 20049its a great emotionally powerful piece of music. it can be rather depressing (especially knowing about the guitarist) but overall the message of the record is hope and unity. its a great record, go buy it if you want.

This is emotional anarchy at its prime--urgent, passionate and honest. [#7]

50The most glaring problem with The Lost Riots is that it's just no fun.

This most confident debut presents Hope of the States as a band for the future -- a place it'll most likely find very comfortable.
