  • Summary: The debut album for the trio formed by The Bird And The Bee's Inara George, Lavender Diamond's Becky Stark, and Eleni Mandell.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 7 out of 9
  2. Negative: 0 out of 9
  1. 80
Singer-songwriters Becky Stark (of Lavender Diamond), Inara George (of the Bird and the Bee), and Eleni Mandell convene for this relaxed, deceptively sophisticated gem of an album.
  2. Uncut
    80
The Living Sisters have put their respective groups aside to concoct a delicious LP straddling the genres. [May 2010, p.97]
  3. There’s an unforced, natural ease dripping from the songs, which sound like Western-accented pop music out of time. Even so, there’s still enough room for playfulness.
  4. It’s impossible to be offended by an album that’s as pleasant and passively enjoyable--and about as complex—as birdsong.
  5. There are occasional missteps, of course, with Becky Stark’s spoken interlude in “Cradle”--a spot-on vintage ballad that dissolves into pure camp--being the worst offender. But the vocals rarely disappoint, and vocals are Love to Live’s bread and butter, anyway.
  6. 62
Although the super group’s vocals blend well across genres, too much sweetness, as in opener “How are you Doing,” seems saccharine.
  7. Decidedly less than the sum of its parts, this is one musical feast you might want to think twice before digging in to.
