For all of Dum and Mad's unebbing intensity--it never gets overbearing, it retains a dynamism through Shah's magnetic voice--she makes you want to stay in the darkness with her.

Subtle electronics and the creation of desolate, 3-D spaces is the icing on a seductively ruined cake. [Aug 2013, p.76]

Love Your Dum And Mad [is] a piercingly direct seduction of the senses. [Aug 2013, p.88]

She’s every bit the equal of Bat For Lashes, Frida Hyvönen or any member of the Wainwright clan.

There are few albums that will make you experience so many emotions concurrently, and even fewer that will still give you chills hours later. Even though it may be tough to swallow some of the brutish feeling, it’s an exceptional record.

Shah always find a way to keep Love Your Dum and Mad simultaneously heartbreaking and inspiring throughout.

There is a deep sadness to every song here, Shah’s first studio set one that will either make you sink into a shadowy pool of darkness, or allow you to reflect upon your own sorrows in a melancholy reverie.

The weight of the album and the somber nature of its subjects can nearly get too much at times. Yet it’s the lightness and dexterity in Nadine’s voice and songwriting that means she has created an album of stories that will warm you and keep you company.

At times a lick more panache might have leavened proceedings, but ‘Winter Reigns” celebration of the great English pub (where “the dark’s never far behind”, naturally) rounds out this confident debut in style.
